Porgas D. Ace is a tall muscular man with jaw-length curly black hair. Although not blood related, Ace looked remarkably like his foster brother, Luffy. Ace's tattoos are among his most remarkable, trademark features. He has a tattoo on his back of the Whitebeard symbol—purple bones formed in a cross behind a purple skull with a white mustache—that he describes as his pride and joy. Ace has another tattoo on his upper left bicep that spells "ASCE" vertically. The "S" crossed out is a tribute to Sabo as that's his jolly roger.
Ace ate the Mera Mera no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to create, control, and transform his body into fire. He can create and unleash massive amounts of fire for large-scale damage, as well as utilize small precision attacks. Later, it is revealed that Ace's burning fists also have the power to annihilate entire cities.
