After joining the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Kisame Hoshigaki was given the title of "Monster of the Hidden Mist".  He became an S-rank missing-nin and was partnered with Itachi Uchiha when the latter joined Akatsuki.

Kisame loves to fight. He is quite sadistic and demonstrates no hesitation in mutilating his opponents. Yet despite his aggressive nature, Kisame is very perceptive and keen-minded in battle. Physically he is a very tall, muscular shinobi (the tallest among the Akatsuki). He also has a distinctive shark-like appearance, complete with blue-grey skin; small, round, white eyes; 3 sets of curved facial markings under his eyes; and sharp triangular teeth, the latter of which is a shared trait amongst most of the other members of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. He also styled his blue hair in the form of a shark fin.

Kisame has equally immense physical strength and speed, combining strong taijutsu strikes with powerful slashes from his massive blade Samehada. As his specialty, Kisame is a very powerful swordsman, and favors the use of brute strength and melee fighting in battle.
